Opal Skyline is a dense, opaque sky blue that strikes through a few different light-blue shades - the colour of a clear, cloudless sky. It runs buttery smooth at the torch, is easy to work, and holds its saturation even under heavy encasement. This is textured experimental rod. The glass chemistry is the same as first quality, but the rod surface is textured rather than smooth and the diameter may be off-spec. Unique (transitional) rod comes from the start or end of an experimental production run; second-quality rod is the same glass with heavier cosmetic flaws - surface texture, bubbles or striations - and more diameter variation, which makes it a good buy for work where the surface gets reworked or the colour ends up encased. Both grades are discounted and are not available on backorder.
