Northstar Amber Purple (13) - Second Thin Stringers Second Quality Stringer / Thin Rod Amber Purple

NS-013 Amber Purple is the original and most forgiving of Northstar's five Amber/Purple striking colours, pulled here to 2-3 mm stringer. Depending on how you strike it the same glass runs from pale yellow through amber to a deep purple; a hot neutral to slightly oxidizing flame gives the most vibrant purples, and a reducing flame will spoil the strike, so keep it out of one. It backs beautifully against Star White and encases cleanly under Violet or Lavender. Second quality stringer carries heavier cosmetic flaws and rod-to-rod colour variation than first, which makes it a cheap way to lay in detail work that will be struck, reworked or encased anyway.
